Middle School
Combining a rigorous academic program with a relational community, Desert Christian Academy provides Biblically-centered education for grades six through eight.
At Desert Christian Academy, we desire to partner with parents during this transition from childhood to the adolescent years. Now, more than ever, secondary school students are in need of caring and capable role models that will help nurture and direct them in their development of independence and individuality.
Curriculum
The middle school curriculum at Desert Christian Academy is intended to be rigorous to prepare students for success in our college preparatory program at Desert Christian Academy. We offer 6 core subjects including: Bible, English, History, Mathematics, Physical Education, and Science. Also, our LEAP Program (Learning Enhancement and Academic Progress) is a resource for neurodiverse learners who may need special accommodations and support to reach their full potential. Additionally, students are offered a selection of elective base classes through our FLEX program. In 8th grade, students enjoy a twelve day Historic Study Tour of the East Coast learning about government and our early American heritage.
Bible
At DCA, God’s Word is the authoritative text that governs all of our curriculum. However, it is also essential for students to learn the Bible in it’s pure form so we have comprehensive Bible instruction across all grades leading students to clearly understand God’s Word and how to navigate it for themselves. Middle School students participate in weekly chapel services and parents are always welcome to attend! AXIOS is our 6th and 7th grade Middle School Leadership Discipleship Club that meets twice a month before school. Each year 6th and 7th grade students go on a 2-3 day retreat away, which is a great time of spiritual, academic and social growth.
Academic Prep for High School
Although most high schools offer the study of physical science to their freshman students, we offer it to our eighth grade students. All of our high school sciences are lab sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.). In order to prepare our 8th grade students for high school level science courses, we have them study physical science in Science 8.
Likewise, our mathematics curriculum is designed to help middle school students make an easy transition to high school math courses. Students performing at an advanced level in math have the opportunity to take Algebra I in 8th grade. This advanced math track allows students to receive high school credit for passing Algebra 1 during their 8th grade year and prepares them to take Calculus during their senior year of high school.
